How long will it take for 3 piranhas about 2 to 2.5 inchs long to grow out of a 20 gallon long tank?

The general rule is 1 inch of fish (full grown) for every gallon of water. But no large fish should ever be kept in a 20 gallon. They need room to swim and turn.
